I am currently working with a well-established and growing planning consultancy that is looking to strengthen its team in Cheshire. This consultancy works across a broad range of development types, including residential, commercial, mixed-use and strategic development, with a strong portfolio in renewable energy, waste and major infrastructure projects.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Senior or Principal Town Planner who enjoys working on a diverse project mix, taking ownership of schemes, and playing a key role in client and project leadership-while maintaining a particular interest or expertise in renewable energy and infrastructure.
The Role
As a Senior or Principal Town Planner, you will take a lead role in the delivery of a wide range of planning projects. Responsibilities will include:
路Providing high-quality planning advice across a varied portfolio of projects, including residential, commercial, infrastructure and renewable energy developments
路Leading projects from inception through to determination, including managing consultants and internal teams
路Preparing, reviewing and submitting planning applications, appeals and supporting documentation
路Undertaking site appraisals, feasibility studies and contributing to planning strategies
路Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact throughout the planning process
路Engaging with local authorities, statutory consultees and other stakeholders to support successful outcomes
路Keeping abreast of changes to planning policy and legislation and advising clients accordingly
路Supporting and mentoring junior team members (at Principal level)
Experience & Qualifications
Candidates are likely to have:
路MRTPI status (or working towards chartership for strong Senior-level candidates)
路Solid experience within consultancy or local authority planning, minimum 4 years
路Exposure to a broad range of planning projects
路Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and policy framework
路Experience managing projects and client relationships
