Job Purpose

Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Coach to support learners aged 16–24 with additional needs, including SEN, SEMH, and those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The role focuses on creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment that helps learners achieve personal, academic, and employment-related goals.

You will build strong relationships with learners, parents/carers, local authorities, and employers to ensure each learner receives a high-quality, well-structured programme of learning and support.

Key Responsibilities

Learner Support & Classroom Practice

  • Provide tailored academic, emotional, and social support to learners with additional needs.
  • Deliver one-to-one and group support, implementing EHCP strategies and monitoring progress.
  • Promote learners’ wellbeing, confidence, and engagement through positive relationships.
  • Support classroom management and use differentiated approaches to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Monitor progress, behaviour, and wellbeing, maintaining accurate records and feedback.

Collaboration & Safeguarding

  • Work closely with teaching staff, support teams, and external professionals.
  • Contribute to planning and review meetings to support individual learner outcomes.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful culture.
  • Identify early signs of emotional or social challenges and support appropriate interventions.

Work Placements & Employer Engagement

  • Manage a caseload of learners and agreed work placements.
  • Liaise with local authorities to identify eligible learners aged 16–24.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local employers to secure work experience opportunities.
  • Match learners to suitable placements based on skills and career goals.
  • Coordinate placement logistics, documentation, and risk assessments.
  • Support learners and employers throughout placements, resolving issues and monitoring progress.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide reports on outcomes and engagement.

Professional Practice

  • Contribute to high-quality learning materials and continuous improvement.
  • Produce accurate reports against KPIs as agreed with your line manager.
  • Demonstrate positive behaviours aligned with our client’s values.
  • Engage in training, CPD, and performance reviews to improve practice.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Essential

  • Functional Skills Level 2 in English, Maths, and ICT (or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting young people with additional needs, including EHCPs.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and confidentiality.

Desirable

  • Experience securing work placements or employer engagement.
  • Knowledge of government-funded training.
  • Relevant education or SEN qualification.
  • Understanding of behavioural and emotional support strategies.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
