EC&I Engineering Manager
Location: Cheshire (North West)
Salary: £70,000 – £80,000
KPI Recruiting Ltd are seeking an experienced EC&I Engineering Manager to join a leading chemical manufacturing business based in Cheshire. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll combine strong technical knowledge with people management to oversee all Electrical, Control & Instrumentation systems on site.
As the EC&I Engineering Manager, you’ll ensure that operations are safe, compliant, and efficient while supporting both ongoing maintenance and new capital projects in a COMAH-regulated environment. This position offers the chance to take ownership of EC&I standards, drive continuous improvement, and be a key technical lead within a high-hazard site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead safe execution of reactive and proactive maintenance across all electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.
- Act as the Responsible Person for HV and LV electrical works on site.
- Manage and continuously improve EC&I standards, including SCADA systems, SIL compliance, and DSEAR requirements.
- Oversee instrumentation calibration, loop checks, and verification.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, and Planning teams to optimise plant performance and reliability.
- Support new projects, ensuring EC&I compliance throughout design, installation, and commissioning.
- Manage contractors and suppliers, maintaining control over cost, quality, and timescales.
- Represent the site EC&I function during COMAH audits, inspections, and technical reviews.
- Drive health & safety initiatives, conduct risk assessments, and promote safe working practices.
- Champion continuous improvement, ensuring PPM schedules and KPIs are achieved via the site CMMS.
About You
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in EC&I disciplines.
- Proven experience as an EC&I Engineering Manager or Senior EC&I Engineer within a chemical, process, or high-hazard manufacturing environment.
- Qualified to C&G 18th Edition, DSEAR/COMPEX, or equivalent industry standards.
- Knowledge of IEC 61508/61511, Siemens S7, and SCADA development desirable.
- Strong understanding of HV/LV electrical systems, isolation, and LOTO procedures.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and contractor management skills.
- Organised, analytical, and proactive approach to problem-solving.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm (flexibility required for project demands and occasional travel).
