Research and Consultation Business Partner

Location: Hybrid / Remote

We are recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking local authority looking for a qualified and experienced Research and Consultation Business Partner to lead and deliver a range of evidence-based projects that directly shape strategic decision-making across the organisation.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a flexible, part-time position, mainly home-based, ideal for someone seeking autonomy, impact, and balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver all aspects of research and consultation projects - from scoping and fieldwork to reporting and presentation
  • Provide expert advice and coaching on methodologies, best practice, and compliance with statutory requirements
  • Analyse both quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate techniques and tools
  • Communicate findings clearly to a wide range of audiences, including senior leadership and elected members
  • Support and upskill services to undertake their own research and consultation work
  • Oversee external suppliers and commissioned projects where needed
  • Contribute to the development of the Council's research and consultation strategy and quality standards

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Statistics, Social Sciences, Geography, Economics, Maths)
  • Professional qualification in research (e.g. Certificate in Market Research or similar)
  • Proven experience managing and delivering research/consultation projects
  • Strong skills in interpreting intelligence and presenting findings in accessible formats
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Confidence in advising, coaching, and upskilling others

Desirable:

  • Experience working within local government or the public sector
  • Familiarity with relevant consultation tools and platforms
  • Experience supervising or mentoring other researchers
