About the Role:
We are seeking a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child in Year 2 who has Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The role involves supporting the child in class, helping them to access learning, develop social communication skills, and regulate emotions in a supportive environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and external professionals to provide consistent and tailored support, helping the child thrive both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with Autism in a Year 2 class

  • Implement individual learning strategies and behaviour support plans

  • Encourage positive interactions and social development

  • Assist with transitions and sensory regulation strategies

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and parents/carers

  • Record observations and contribute to progress reviews

  • Whole school lunchtime duty

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children with Autism (in a school or similar setting)

  • Demonstrates empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills

  • Understands the importance of routine and consistency

  • Can adapt strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement

  • Is reliable, flexible, and able to work as part of a team

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3)

  • Knowledge of PECS, visual timetables, or other SEND strategies

  • First aid or safeguarding training
