- Cost Analysis and Reporting:Analyse and report on project and production costs, material costs, labour costs, and overhead expenses. Prepare detailed cost reports and variance analyses.
- Revenue recognition and project profitability analysis. Support the business to ensure project and products are accounted for in accordance with standards of recognition and the requirements of the funders.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor budget performance and provide insights on cost-saving opportunities.
- Inventory Management:Oversee inventory control and provide insight to the business. Conduct regular inventory audits and work with relevant teams to reconcile discrepancies.
- Product Costing:Develop and maintain accurate product costing models for new and existing products. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure accurate cost allocation.
- Margin analysis: work with the wider business to understand and report accurate margin and provide detailed analysis to management to support commercial decision making.
- Research and development: collate financial information for research and development activities, including grant claims, tax credit and other related items such as intangible assets.
- Process Improvement:Identify and implement process improvements to enhance cost efficiency and accuracy. Support the implementation of cost control measures.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work closely with other departments, including engineering, production, and procurement, to gather and analyse cost-related data.
- Professional accounting qualification or QBE
- Proven experience as a Cost Accountant in a manufacturing, project or R&D environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience of ERP systems
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
