Reed Finance Norwich are seeking a Financial Controller to join our clients finance team at the Norwich head office. This role is crucial for overseeing financial operations within the clients’ various businesses across East Anglia and the rest of the UK. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of accountants and will be responsible for comprehensive financial reporting and supporting senior operational managers.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Act as a business partner for senior operational managers, providing financial support, analysis, and advice to enhance decision-making and maximise profitability.
  • Accurately report on stock balances, purchases, and manage accounting
  • Manage relationships within the external stakeholders and the wider group to enhance business efficiency and improve processes.
  • Ensure accurate and current reporting of stockholding, consignment, and curtailment recording.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts ensuring they are accurate and up to date.
  • Forecast cash requirements and manage funds flow for purchases, interacting with the Group Finance Director to ensure adequate working capital.
  • Prepare and complete reporting to key suppliers and provide financial information to relevant third parties as required.
  • Calculate and prepare commission statements for the sales team and payroll departments.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and statutory accounts for two companies within the group.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly management meetings, presenting financial results.
  • Liaise with external advisers, auditors, and tax consultants.
  • Manage the annual budget process and develop structures for reliable target setting.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, etc.) with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in financial management at a senior level.
