CAD Designer

£30,000 to £35,000 per annum

Staffing Innovations is working with a super star of an employer specialising in engineering and manufacturing in Norwich.

We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer with Solidworks to manage and maintain the SolidWorks environment, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and user support. The SolidWorks Administrator/draftsmen will play a critical role in managing CAD systems, providing user support, and collaborating with engineering and IT teams to enhance the clients processes, develop and maintain existing CAD data, build CAD libraries of standard assemblies and generate CAD documentation such as explodes and floorplans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rework existing CAD Data (75%):

o Build CAD assembly variations of existing designs to accommodate all build variations.

o Manage existing designs to reflect all new change requirements

o Assist on controlling amount of new, obsolete and unused parts within the organisation

o Build crib sheets for specs to assist various departments

o Generate floor plans for existing machines

o Generate explode documentation for existing machines

o Assist with generating DO procedure documentation

o Build library parts

o Build superimposed models for master assemblies

  • System Administration (5%):
  • Manage and maintain SolidWorks CAD environment, including installations and upgrades.
  • User Support (5%):
  • Assist with technical support to SolidWorks users, resolving issues related to software performance, data management, and workflows.
  • Customisation and Automation (5%):
  • Customise SolidWorks settings, templates, and libraries to meet organisational needs.
  • Develop and implement macros, scripts, and add-ons to automate repetitive tasks and improve productivity.
  • Collaboration (5%):
  • Work closely with the engineering and IT, teams to align CAD system functionality with project requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement (5%):
  • Stay updated on the latest SolidWorks features, "WHATS NEW", technologies, and industry trends.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to the CAD environment to enhance efficiency and user experience.

The successful Solidworks Administrator will have the following:

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a SolidWorks Administrator or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of SolidWorks, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM and CAD data management system.
  • Strong attention to detail and logical thinking.
  • Ability to do repetitive work to a high standard of detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and understand new things

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SolidWorks certifications (e.g., CSWA, CSWP, or CSWE).
  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
