Our client is an innovative technology company based in Norwich, driving the development of electric drive solutions for off-road vehicles and outdoor power equipment. With a focus on sustainability, efficiency, and high-performance design, they are seeking a Lead Electronics Engineer to take a key leadership role in their engineering team.

The Role:This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned electronics professional to step into a technical leadership role, overseeing high-volume power electronics projects from concept to production. As a Lead Electronics Engineer, you will work closely with the CTO and VP Engineering to align product development with strategic company goals.

You’ll be responsible for leading the design and delivery of motor drive and battery charging electronics—contributing technical expertise, team guidance, and hands-on design throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead electronics design activities including schematic capture, PCB layout, EMC, thermal, and safety considerations.

  • Manage and guide complex electronics development projects across multiple platforms.

  • Design motor controllers and battery management systems with performance, cost, and manufacturability in mind.

  • Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and compliance teams for full system integration.

  • Provide strategic direction and mentorship within the electronics engineering team.

  • Support supply chain readiness and plan for manufacturing scale-up.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience with Li-ion, LiFePO4, and Lead Acid battery technologies.

  • Proficiency with circuit simulation tools such as Simulink, Matlab, Simetrix, LTSpice.

  • Strong hands-on skills with Altium or equivalent electronics CAD tools.

  • In-depth knowledge of thermal management, DfM, and high-volume product design.

  • Familiarity with NPI processes, including PDR, CDR, FAI, V&V stages.

  • Proven leadership, planning, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
