Job Title: Care Assistant

Reports to: Registered Manager

Job Purpose

To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents in line with their individual care plans, promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.
  • Support residents with mobility and use of aids, ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Assist with mealtimes, including preparation, serving, and feeding where required.
  • Provide companionship, emotional support, and engage residents in activities.
  • Monitor and record residents’ conditions, reporting any concerns or changes to senior staff.
  • Follow individual care plans and ensure residents’ choices and preferences are respected.
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and a safe environment in the care home.
  • Support with medication administration (if trained and delegated).
  • Adhere to safeguarding, confidentiality, and health & safety policies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, residents’ families, and healthcare professionals.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Compassionate, caring, and patient nature.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Reliable and committed to high standards of care.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a care or support role.
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
  • Knowledge of dementia care or end-of-life care.
