Job Title: Production Supervisor

Production Supervisor – Control Panel ,Fabrication, Metalwork, Wiring & Testing

Supervising / managing control panel manufacture !

Standard hours Monday to Friday; overtime and occasional weekend work may be required.

Department: Production / Engineering

Reporting To: Production Manager / Operations Manager

Job Purpose:

To lead and supervise the factory-based production team in the metal fabrication, assembly, and wiring of electrical control panels. The role ensures production activities are completed to the required technical standards, timelines, and safety protocols, supporting delivery of high-quality high-voltage control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise daily operations in the metal fabrication, mechanical assembly, and electrical wiring of control panels.

Ensure correct interpretation and execution of engineering drawings, fabrication layouts, and electrical schematics.

Coordinate with design and procurement teams to verify build specifications and material requirements.

Allocate workloads and oversee workshop personnel including fabricators, panel builders, and wiremen.

Manage the use of workshop tools and machinery including shearing, punching, drilling, and bending equipment.

Conduct in-process and final inspections for mechanical fit-out and electrical compliance.

Promote safe working practices across fabrication and wiring areas, in line with ISO 45001 and company procedures.

Monitor stock levels for sheet metal, enclosures, wiring components, and hardware; liaise with stock control for replenishment.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives for quality, productivity, and layout optimization.

Support onboarding and on-the-job training of production staff in fabrication and panel build standards.

Maintain accurate production records, quality checklists, and build traceability as per ISO 9001 requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication, or related discipline (HNC/HND preferred).

Minimum 5 years’ experience in control panel building including metalwork (sheet metal fabrication) and electrical wiring.

Supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing or panel shop environment.

Experience with HV/LV control and protection panels is highly advantageous.

Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 systems.

Skills Required

Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering drawings (mechanical and electrical).

Proficient in metalworking tools: bending machines, drills, presses, and hand tools.

Strong background in cable routing, component mounting, and precision wiring to industrial standards.

Understanding of BS7671 and IEC wiring standards.

Comfortable using MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools.
