Junior Buyer

Our client, a leading independent Oil & Gas operator, based in Norwich are currently seeking two Junior Buyers to join their Buying team (part of the wider Supply Chain team).

This is an initial 12-month contract position, based in Norwich, working Monday to Friday.

Key Experience/Qualifications Required:

  • 1-2 years’ experience working as a Buyer or within an administrative support role within a supply chain/purchasing environment would be an advantage.
  • An understanding of Microsoft Office packages such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams
  • Working knowledge of SAP MM - desirable but not essential.
  • Team orientated but also possess the ability to work using own initiative.
  • Previous experience of working within the Oil & Gas industry - desirable but not essential

This position could also be suitable for someone seeking an entry level role to start their career.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the buying team in sourcing best price and delivery for all goods/materials ensuring competitive prices are sought
  • Provide customer focused support in the areas of purchasing of materials and services in support of other facilities SAP and other locations as necessary
  • Benchmarking and negotiating goods and services involving rental and labour.
  • Ensuring competitive prices are sought from existing and new vendors and ensuring compliance with site requirements and QSHE policies.
  • Accurate preparation and issue of all purchase orders including correct cost allocation.
  • Develop and maintain commercial awareness and understanding of terms and conditions.
  • Ensure materials and services are delivered to meet asset plan and budgets
  • Provide reports to assist with accruals and project spend
  • Ensure accurate cost allocation for user groups
  • Issue new supplier with appropriate service/purchase order terms and conditions
  • Ensure that all certification and documentation is provided as part of the delivery process
  • Assist with audit of key suppliers to ensure HSE is being delivered through the correct process
  • To contribute towards the maintenance of supplier records in SAP
  • To support the team with extracting data from SAP for reporting purposes on procurement activity
  • Develop proficient overall use of SAP at a level which enables the use of purchasing data to enhance future core buying activities
