Reed, Accountancy and Finance are working exclusively with our client for an Assistant Cost Accountant. Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Cost Accountant to join our clients finance team in Nottingham. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in cost and variance analysis, with proficiency in Sage being highly desirable.

Our client is a family-owned business with a strong presence in the market, possess an excellent working culture with great retention of staff. This is a newly created position to continue their growth within their market. As part of the role, your duties will consist of the following: 

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct detailed cost analysis to support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Perform variance analysis to identify discrepancies and provide actionable insights.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements.
• Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate cost allocation.
• Maintain and update cost accounting systems and records.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.

Requirements:

• Finance qualification or similar.
• Proven experience in cost and variance analysis.
• Proficiency in Sage accounting software is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
