Financial Accountant | Nottingham City Centre (Hybrid)

Up to £60,000 + Bonus | Exclusive to Distinct Recruitment

A newly created role in a growing business – with real support, not just lip service.

We’re working exclusively with a multi-site organisation in the service sector, currently going through an exciting period of growth. With ~£50m turnover and active expansion into new territories, they’re investing in their finance team with this brand-new hire.

But what really sets this business apart is how they treat their people.

It’s a genuinely supportive environment – one where you’ll be given autonomy, but also backed when you need it. The CFO and Group FC are both hands-on, approachable leaders who want their team to succeed. They trust their people, they listen, and they create space for ideas.

There are plenty of examples of them going above and beyond – whether that’s offering flexibility when life throws a curveball, investing in personal development, or just creating a workplace where people feel valued and supported.

It’s the kind of business where you’ll be challenged and stretched, but also looked after.

The role itself:

It’s hands-on, varied and business-facing – ideal if you enjoy working across departments and being involved in improvements and change. You’ll also mentor an Assistant Financial Accountant and support a finance system implementation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead on statutory reporting, balance sheet controls, and VAT returns.
  • Oversee month-end close and prepare financial reporting packs.
  • Support audits across UK and international entities (including Denmark and Sweden).
  • Drive process improvements and help embed strong financial controls.
  • Support the implementation of Sage Intacct.
  • Produce cash flow forecasts and help provide commercial insight.

You’ll thrive here if you are:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
  • Naturally detail-focused with a process-improvement mindset
  • Experienced with statutory reporting, VAT, and audits
  • Someone who enjoys building strong relationships and making things better

And in return?

  • Salary up to £60,000 + discretionary bonus
  • 24 days holiday + your birthday off + bank holidays (plus option to buy 5 more)
  • Hybrid working (2 days in the office once you’re settled)
  • Subsidised city-centre parking
  • Health cash plan, life assurance and a 5% matched pension
  • Regular social events and a people-first working culture

Interview Process:

Simple and candidate-friendly – initial phone/Teams call followed by an in-person interview.

If you’re after a role with impact, autonomy, and a team that genuinely cares – this is one worth exploring.
