Your new role

As a Senior Software Engineer within our Capital Markets FX Technology team you will be responsible for delivering software applications within the FXall Foreign Exchange trading platform. You will work on building and maintaining performance-critical, scalable, and resilient trading applications within the our FX portfolio. Major FX systems under active development include:

• Core System
• FX RFQ trading
• FX Algorithmic trading
• FX Option trading
• Stream based platform

Responsibilities:

Working as a member of a software delivery team within the Technology Development group based in Nottingham, UK, the successful candidate would fulfil the following duties and responsibilities:

• Working with team members across geographic locations (UK, Bangkok, New York)
• Reviewing specifications and working with the Product team to refine the business and functional requirements.
• Software analysis and design against agreed requirements and functional specifications.
• Liaising with the business team, architects, and other developers to ensure correct interpretation of business requirements.
• Estimating the effort required to produce work products and producing work breakdowns.
• Preparing and collaborating on technical specifications, designs, and code for software components developed by the team.
• Software implementation, maintenance, and problem resolution.
• Designing and implementing unit test cases.
• Reviewing designs, specifications, and software changes.
• Assisting in the creation and preparation of product releases.
• Helping to diagnose faults and implement potential solutions when issues are reported on the Production systems.
• May include taking technical ownership of particular components or work items.
• May include the provision of 3rd level support

What you'll need to succeed

• BS/MS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience
• Strong knowledge of the fundamentals of Java and Computer Science in general
• Financial sector experience, specifically with FX Product and Trading Platform.
• Object oriented design and understanding when to use design patterns
• Ability to write clean, testable code, and experience with unit testing and mocking
• Strong Unix knowledge with experience automating tasks and understanding of tools available for gathering perf metrics: top/sar/pidstat/iostat/vmstat etc.
• Strong documentation and presentation skills
• Familiar with Continuous Integration and VCS
• Experience in performance analysis/tuning, using profilers and writing benchmarks

• FIX Protocol
• JMH experience (Java Microbenchmark Harness)
