A global leader in precision engineering is seeking an experienced Process Development Engineer to drive the development, validation, and integration of new manufacturing processes—connecting design, testing, and production to deliver world-class product performance and quality.

Using your technical manufacturing knowledge (ideally with thermoplastics), you will act as the technical link between design / testing, and manufacturing teams to develop the processes for new products. This may be via process changes, new tooling, or new machinery.

As the Process Development Engineer you will liaise with engineers and departments in other countries (mainly USA and Switzerland) whilst developing the information/processes to manufacture the products at the Nottingham facility.

Key Responsibilities of Process Development Engineer:

  • Lead process development activities for new product launches and global manufacturing transfers
  • Develop and optimise tools and processes from prototype through to production scale
  • Conduct DFM reviews, PFMEAs, and validation protocols
  • Evaluate manufacturing effectiveness and identify improvements in processes, equipment, and product quality
  • Support supplier development, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Mentor colleagues and promote best practices in process development

What You'll Need:

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or similar)
  • 6–10 years' experience in manufacturing/process development roles
  • Solid background in working with thermoplastics—injection moulding, welding, assembly, etc.
  • Expertise in GD&T, SPC, FMEA, and process control tools
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and Microsoft Office
  • Lean Practitioner Level II or Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
