Transport Solutions Assistant
Salary: 15.66 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: West Bridgford, Nottingham
Client: Nottinghamshire County Council
Contract Type: Temporary (3 months)
Hours: Full time (37 hours per week)
About the Role
The Transport Solutions Assistant will support the delivery of a wide range of specialist transport services across Nottinghamshire, including home-to-school transport, Youth Offending, Children & Families, Adult Social Care, and respite short breaks. The role involves ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective transport solutions that meet client needs, while maintaining compliance with safeguarding standards and delivering excellent customer care.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of specialist transport solutions for internal and external clients.
  • Monitor contract performance through site visits and investigations of service user issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Procure and evaluate ad-hoc transport to achieve best value.
  • Review and assess Direct Travel Assistance Payments (DTAP) to parents and carers.
  • Analyse contract performance against specifications and contribute to service reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency savings and implement cost-effective solutions.
  • Ensure all service users have certified Transport Care Plans where required.
  • Assess service development opportunities in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate financial and client records using bespoke software systems.
  • Verify supplier and client payments and monitor revenue returns.
  • Support Transport Officers with service delivery priorities and deputise when required.
  • Provide excellent customer service in dealings with clients and suppliers.
Experience & Knowledge
  • Experience in contract monitoring and performance evaluation.
  • Knowledge of transport planning and service delivery in a local authority or similar setting.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection requirements.
  • Experience of liaising with multiple stakeholders, including schools, care professionals, and suppliers.
  • Familiarity with budget monitoring and efficiency savings.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyse data and produce clear reports.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Proficiency in using bespoke and financial software systems.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
  • Relevant qualification in transport, business administration, or related field (desirable).
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in service delivery or contract management.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to travel across Nottinghamshire for site visits.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of service users.
  • Flexible approach to working hours when required.
