Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Year 1) - Personal Care Support
Location: NG18 Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary Start Date: ASAP - on going into the summer
We are supporting a Primary Academy that are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join the Year 1 team, with a specific focus on providing personal care and tailored support to individual pupils with special needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide classroom support under the direction of the class teacher to ensure all children can access the curriculum.
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions as required.
- Assist with personal care needs, including toileting, changing, and hygiene support, in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress and welfare to the class teacher and SENCO.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working with young children, preferably in a school setting.
- Be confident in providing personal care with sensitivity and discretion.
- Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Show patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach to behaviour and learning support.
- Hold a relevant Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
