Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Year 1) - Personal Care Support

Location: NG18 Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary Start Date: ASAP - on going into the summer

We are supporting a Primary Academy that are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join the Year 1 team, with a specific focus on providing personal care and tailored support to individual pupils with special needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom support under the direction of the class teacher to ensure all children can access the curriculum.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions as required.
  • Assist with personal care needs, including toileting, changing, and hygiene support, in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and welfare to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with young children, preferably in a school setting.
  • Be confident in providing personal care with sensitivity and discretion.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Show patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach to behaviour and learning support.
  • Hold a relevant Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
