Teaching Assistant (Full Time) - Including Personal Care Responsibilities

We are supporting a Primary school in Nottingham that is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive team full-time. This role includes providing 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs and includes personal care responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with special educational needs (SEN), under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support learning in and out of the classroom.
  • Help pupils develop independence, confidence, and self-esteem.
  • Provide personal care, including toileting, changing, and other hygiene-related tasks, with dignity and sensitivity.
  • Support the pupil during break/lunch times and during transitions throughout the day.
  • Liaise effectively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals.
  • Encourage inclusion and promote positive behaviour and social interaction.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with additional needs.
  • A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach.
  • Willingness and ability to provide personal care.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths or equivalent).
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.

Desirable:

  • Experience in an SEN setting or supporting children with EHCPs.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 TA qualification or equivalent.
  • First Aid or Manual Handling training.
  • A proactive attitude and a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
