Night Shift Electrical Fitter
Location: Colwick, Nottingham
Employment Type: Permanent
Salary: 22 per hour (Overtime Available)
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off, 12-hour night shifts (typically 6 PM - 6 AM)
Do you have experience in heavy industry, waste management, or manufacturing? We're looking for a Night Shift Electrical Fitter to join a fast-growing industrial site, ensuring the safe and efficient running of critical heavy machinery. This is a key role, with an 80/20 electrical-to-mechanical focus, supporting night operations and handovers to the day team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive electrical maintenance on equipment including motors, 3-phase systems, shredders, magnets, conveyor belts, rollers, drive gearboxes, and baling machines.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults quickly to minimise downtime.
- Assist with the installation, assembly, and commissioning of electrical equipment and support upgrades to existing machinery.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and communicate effectively with the day shift team.
- Collaborate with night and day teams and production staff to ensure operational continuity.
Requirements
- Proven experience in electrical fitting or maintenance within heavy industry or manufacturing.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and perform fault finding and repairs.
- Some mechanical experience to support minor maintenance tasks (approx. 20% of role).
- Comfortable working independently during night shifts.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable
- Experience with hydraulic systems, baling machines, or conveyor systems.
- Safety certifications (e.g., IOSH, First Aid).
- Experience in waste or recycling sectors.
