Job Title: Finance Manager

Reed, East Midlands, Accountancy and Finance are working exclusively for our client, for a Finance Manager. This post it to lead the finance function with a strong focus on management accounting and operational finance. This role is ideal for a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a hands-on environment and is passionate about driving financial performance and operational efficiency.

Our client is a specialist SME in their field and have a strong reputation within their field. Our client is looking for the right person, who has both the technical expertise, teamed with soft skills to work in a high value, ethical culture. 

As part of the role, you will need to have the following skills / experience: 

Key Responsibilities:

Management Accounting (MA):

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain budgeting and forecasting models.
  • Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis and scenario planning.
  • Monitor KPIs and financial metrics to assess business performance.
  • Assist in financial planning and strategy development.

Operational Finance Duties:

  • Day-to-day financial operations including accounts payable, receivable, and payroll.
  • Manage cash flow and banking relationships.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls and procedures.
  • Implement and supporting systems.
  • Support procurement and inventory management from a financial perspective.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a finance role
  • Strong background in management accounting and operational finance.
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Systems knowledge of – Xero, Excel and Sage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness and strategic thinking.
  • Proactive and high initiative levels, teamed with a real passion for technology.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with process improvement and automation initiatives.
