Engineering Team Leader
(FMCG)
£46,000

A FMCG business in the Nottingham area is gearing up for the launch of a brand new site opening this year.  Before the shiny new kit arrives, they’re bringing in an Engineering Team Leader who can be involved from the very start. The setup, commissioning, supplier visits, and helping shape how engineering is run on day one.

This isn’t a “keep the lights on” role. It’s about building something properly.

The Role:

You’ll be working a 4 on 4 off, days and nights pattern, leading the on-site engineering team and supporting the Engineering Manager through a critical transition period.

Before the new site goes live, you’ll spend time:

  • Supporting engineering operations at the current site
  • Visiting suppliers and OEMs
  • Getting involved in machinery installation and commissioning
  • Spending time at another UK site to learn best practice from an established engineering operation

Once the new site is live, you’ll be central to keeping performance high, downtime low, and standards where they should be.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading, coaching and motivating the engineering team to deliver strong shift performance
  • Ensuring breakdowns are dealt with quickly and effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Planning and executing preventative maintenance to maximise uptime
  • Managing contractors, suppliers and external engineering support
  • Making sure engineering standards, documentation and compliance are consistently met
  • Supporting continuous improvement across reliability, performance and safety

This is a hands on leadership role. You’ll be expected to lead from the front, not from an office.

What they’re looking for:

This is important - They’re not looking for someone ready for a step up. They want someone who is already operating as an engineering team leader. Someone that can hit the ground running and help shape things moving forward.

You’ll need:

  • Recognised mechanical or electrical engineering qualifications (electrical bias preferred)
  • Strong understanding of controls systems (networking knowledge a bonus)
  • Proven experience in a high-speed manufacturing or production environment
  • Demonstrable experience leading and motivating an engineering team
  • Solid IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • A proactive mindset, high standards, and the confidence to challenge when needed

You’ll also need the right to work in the UK.

What’s on offer:

  • £46,000 basic salary
  • 4 on / 4 off shift pattern (days & nights)
  • Pension, life assurance and EAP
  • Performance awards and long-service recognition
  • Genuine training and development opportunities
  • A chance to play a key role in launching a brand-new manufacturing site

Why this role stands out:

Opportunities to be involved in a site build from the ground up are rare. If you enjoy responsibility, variety, and leaving a lasting mark on how engineering is done, this one’s worth a serious look.
