A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Family Legal Assistant / Paralegal to join a respected and supportive Family Law department based in the area of Nottingham. This position is perfect for a well-organised individual with a genuine interest in family law who is keen to support experienced solicitors across a varied and often sensitive caseload.

The Role:

You will be providing essential support to family law solicitors dealing with a broad spectrum of matters including divorce, financial settlements, child arrangements, domestic abuse cases, and cohabitation disputes. The role requires a high level of discretion, empathy, and efficiency, and offers valuable exposure to complex and rewarding legal work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assisting Family Law Solicitors with the day-to-day management of client files

  • Drafting legal documents and correspondence including Form E, statements, and court applications

  • Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence via a case management system

  • Conducting client ID and compliance checks

  • Liaising with clients, courts, and third parties both in writing and over the phone

  • Attending client meetings and preparing detailed notes

  • Opening, maintaining, and closing client files in accordance with internal procedures

  • Providing general administrative support including scanning, photocopying, filing, and preparing court bundles

Candidate Essentials:
  • Previous experience working within a Family Law department is advantageous

  • Ability to manage a busy workload and support fee earners with minimal supervision

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a calm and compassionate approach

  • High attention to detail and a professional manner when dealing with clients facing sensitive issues

  • Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office applications

  • A flexible and proactive mindset, with strong organisational and multitasking abilities
