Progress Teachers are seeking a proactive and skilled Site Officer to join the staffing body of a local mainstream secondary school. This is a key role in ensuring the school provides a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The Site Officer will work closely with the Site Manager and school leadership to maintain the school buildings, grounds, and facilities to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily security checks, unlocking/locking buildings and ensuring site safety.
  • Undertake minor repairs, maintenance, and general DIY across the school site.
  • Oversee contractors working on-site, ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the premises, reporting and addressing issues promptly.
  • Assist with setting up rooms for school events, meetings, and examinations.
  • Monitor stock levels of cleaning and maintenance supplies and place orders where required.
  • Support the implementation of health & safety policies, including fire safety and risk assessments.
  • Ensure the grounds are kept tidy, safe, and presentable at all times.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a site officer/caretaking, facilities, or maintenance role (school experience desirable).
  • Practical skills in basic maintenance are desireable but not essential. 
  • Knowledge of health & safety procedures, including COSHH and manual handling.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritise tasks.
  • Flexibility to work split shifts, evenings, or weekends as required.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and strong teamworking skills.
  • A DBS on the Update Service OR willingness to obtain
