Mobile HGV Technician

Our client, an experienced road transport engineering company , is seeking for a Mobile HGV Technician to join their team to operate within East Midlands area.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on our fleet of HGVs at roadside locations, customer sites, or depot locations. This is a field-based role that requires strong mechanical skills, a proactive attitude, and a customer-focused approach.

Role: Mobile HGV Technician

Salary: £43,000 per annum

Hours: Mon to Fri 7am to 5pm, every other Saturday 7am - 3pm

Location: Nottingham

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled servicing and maintenance on HGVs, trailers, and ancillary equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
  • Attend breakdowns and provide roadside assistance when required.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections to DVSA standards and complete relevant documentation.
  • Ensure all repairs and services are completed in line with company and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Accurately record work completed using mobile devices or job sheets.
  • Maintain a clean and organised mobile workshop (company van).
  • Liaise with fleet and transport managers to schedule maintenance and reduce vehicle downtime.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and company procedures.

Requirements:

  • Qualified HGV Technician (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a similar HGV maintenance or breakdown technician role.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (HGV Class 1 or 2 preferred but not essential).
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends, overtime, or on-call rota.
