A rapidly scaling technology company operating at the forefront of advanced construction materials and sustainable infrastructure is seeking a Senior Research Lead to drive innovation across cement and concrete performance.

This organisation is transitioning from pilot-scale innovation to large-scale industrial deployment and is investing heavily in next-generation materials designed to significantly reduce environmental impact while improving structural performance and durability. Translation: serious science with real-world consequences (the good kind).

The Role

This is a senior, hands-on technical leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering complex R&D programmes focused on construction materials innovation.

You will:

  • Lead development of new technology areas within cement and concrete systems

  • Design and manage advanced experimental programmes and laboratory infrastructure

  • Specify, procure and commission specialist testing equipment

  • Ensure full compliance with HSE and laboratory best practice

  • Mentor and guide a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists

  • Bridge the gap between research output and industrial application

The Ideal Profile

You will bring:

  • A PhD in Construction Materials, Civil Engineering, Chemistry or similar

  • 10+ years’ industrial experience in cement/concrete R&D

  • Proven expertise in cement chemistry, hydration, performance and durability

  • Strong experience setting up and running laboratory environments

  • Background in sustainable materials, low-carbon processes or industrial decarbonisation initiatives

  • A track record of leading independent research and technical strategy
