We are currently seeking a Senior Estimator within a Highways Term Service team initially on a 3-6 months contract. You will be an experienced professional responsible for developing accurate cost estimates for Highways, Civils, Surfacing and Winter Maintenance, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and scope.
Responsibilities of a Senior Estimator in a Highways Term Service:
Cost Estimation:
Developing detailed and accurate cost estimates for various highway projects, including maintenance, repairs, and new construction.
Risk Assessment:
Identifying and assessing potential risks that could impact project costs and timelines.
Material Procurement:
Overseeing the selection and procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring they meet project specifications and budget constraints.
Subcontractor Management:
Evaluating and negotiating with subcontractors, ensuring they provide competitive pricing and meet project requirements.
Budget Management:
Monitoring project budgets, tracking expenses, and identifying areas where cost savings can be achieved.
Reporting:
Preparing detailed cost reports, presentations, and other documents for project stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement:
Identifying opportunities to improve estimating processes, reduce costs, and improve project delivery.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Proven experience in pricing Term Service Tenders.
- A degree in General Civil Engineering or a related field.
- A deep understanding of civil engineering and the construction industry.
- Confidence in independently pricing projects with minimal reliance on others.
- Exceptional numeracy skills.
- Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in all Microsoft packages.
- Strong analytical capabilities for financial analysis.
- The ability to thrive in high-pressure situations and meet tight deadlines.
- Outstanding organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
