Senior Mechanical Design Engineer


Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 (DOE) Type: Permanent / Hybrid

The Role

  • Lead mechanical design from concept to manufacture for machinery and process systems

  • Oversee a small design team, checking and approving work to ensure quality and accuracy

  • Produce 3D models, assemblies, fabrication drawings, and BOMs

  • Plan workloads, allocate resources, and support Project Managers

  • Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve technical issues

  • Manage drawing release, revision control, and documentation

 

You’ll Need

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

  • 8 years’ experience in machinery, process, or automation design

  • Strong fabrication, pipework, and assembly knowledge

  • Experience mentoring, checking drawings, and maintaining design standards

  • Confident communicator ready to step into leadership

 

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of P&IDs, process equipment, or DfM

  • Familiarity with CE marking, machinery safety, or fluid systems
