Vehicle Technicians Crash Prep & Crash De-Prep

Are you passionate about automotive safety and precision engineering? We are looking for dedicated Crash Prep Technicians and Crash De-Prep Technicians to join our growing Safety team in Coventry.

In these hands-on roles, you'll play a vital part in ensuring vehicles meet the highest safety standards. You'll support a wide range of crash test scenarios including frontal, side, and rollover impacts directly contributing to vehicle development and road safety.

The Role

We are seeking motivated and detail-focused individuals to join our Crash Workshop team at an exciting time of growth and innovation. Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare vehicles for crash testing
  • Carry out full vehicle assembly and build tasks, including both mechanical and electrical systems
  • Fit instrumentation, sensors, cameras, and data acquisition systems
  • Perform electrical and mechanical assembly, wiring, and fitting
  • Interpret and work from wiring diagrams and technical drawings
  • Use a wide range of hand tools (e.g. ratchets, spanners) and power tools
  • Conduct trim removal/refit, restraint system installation, and fluid draining/painting tasks
  • Conduct sensor health checks and manage test data
  • Work on prototype vehicles and pre-production systems
  • Support planned maintenance and continuous improvement activities
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and quality procedures (including UKAS 17025)
  • Collaborate with engineers to meet testing requirements and project timelines

What Were Looking For

Essential Experience:

  • Previous experience in a vehicle workshop or automotive environment
  • Whole vehicle build or sub-system assembly
  • Comfortable using hand tools and power tools
  • Strong understanding of vehicle components and terminology
  • Able to read and interpret wiring diagrams

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working on prototype vehicles
  • Exposure to crash testing, data acquisition, or automotive instrumentation
  • Familiarity with automotive electrical systems or test facilities
  • Experience with high-speed cameras or FARO CMM equipment

Essential Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Good computer literacy and time management
  • Ability to multitask and work independently or in a team
  • Forklift Truck (FLT) licence required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Automotive/Engineering
  • HNC/HND Level 4 or equivalent in Automotive/Engineering
  • Electrical/electronic qualifications
  • FLT and/or Crane Licence
