Exciting opportunity for a Sous Chef at The Fox and Hounds, Oakham.

We are looking for a talented new part time chef to join our kitchen team in our beautiful 18th century country pub!

Full time position with immediate start working Wednesday to Thursday dinner service, Friday to Saturday lunch and dinner service and Sunday lunch service. Annual salary up to £30,000 dependant on experience and qualifications

As a Chef you'll play a key part in our pub kitchen team. You will have the opportunity to help the Head Chef create seasonal menus using fresh local produce, create creative daily specials as well as continue our current menu such as our sort after roast dinners!

You will be expected to have the highest standards in the kitchen to provide our customers with an excellent dining experience to match our beautiful gardens overlooking the canal to ensure our guests keep coming back for more!

You will be responsible for all assisting in aspects of the day to day running of your kitchen, including:

  • Assist the Head Chef as required and handle other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure high level of hygiene and cleanliness standards are maintained within the kitchen.
  • Deliver training to kitchen staff.
  • Liaise with all restaurant personnel to effectively work as a team.
  • Contributing to and leading the team effort.

Required skills and experience:

  • Previous experience working as part of a fast-moving, quality driven, culinary team, as either a Chef de Partie or Demi Chef de Partie
  • Passion for food is a given; a love for our particular style and flavours a definite advantage
  • Highly motivated and possessing an immense sense of pride in your work; passionate about delivering the high standards for our guests in line
  • A positive can do attitude to solving problems in a professional and courteous manner
  • A strong team player with great communication skills and an enthusiastic approach; well organised and punctual with an eagle eye for detail
  • Want to be part of a team that works hard, supports each other and above all has fun along the way
  • Level 1 Food Hygiene and Safety Certification
