Senior Building Physics Consultant

A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Building Physics Consultant to join its Bristol office. Offering hybrid working and the opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of sustainable design projects, this role is ideal for a candidate looking to take the next step in their building performance career within a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will lead on building performance modelling and simulation across a variety of projects. They will work closely with architects, engineers, and sustainability professionals to deliver data-driven insights that inform design decisions and enhance environmental performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and delivering dynamic thermal modelling, overheating analysis, and daylight assessments
  • Supporting early-stage design through passive design strategies and energy efficiency measures
  • Advising on compliance with Part L, TM52, TM59, and other relevant standards
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate building physics into wider project delivery
  • Mentoring junior team members and contributing to the development of best practices and tools
  • Supporting net zero, whole-life carbon and decarbonisation strategies as part of wider consultancy offering

Candidate Requirements

  • A degree in Building Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Design, or a related field
  • Proven experience in building performance modelling using tools such as IES-VE, Design Builder or similar
  • Strong understanding of UK building regulations, energy standards, and sustainability frameworks
  • Experience working in a consultancy environment on a range of building typologies
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Passion for sustainable design and performance-led consultancy
  • Experience in mentoring or technical leadership is desirable
