Our client, is seeking a Road Safety Engineer to join their team.. This permanent position offers the opportunity to contribute to reducing road traffic casualties by analysing collision data, implementing speed management initiatives, and conducting Road Safety Audits.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse collision data to identify and address road safety issues
  • Implement speed management initiatives across the county
  • Provide safety reviews of highway design proposals
  • Conduct Road Safety Audits in accordance with GG119 standards
  • Manage road safety schemes and provide advice to colleagues and external partners
  • Review applications for changes to highway operations, such as speed limits
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external organisations to deliver road safety solutions
  • Engage with local, regional, and national interest groups to promote safe, healthy, and sustainable travel


Job Requirements:


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge and appreciation of the Safe Systems approach to road safety
  • Experience in improving road safety through highway design standards and guidance
  • Proficiency in collision data analysis and deriving safety solutions
  • Qualification to conduct Road Safety Audits under GG119
  • Excellent organisational skills to prioritise workloads effectively
  • Customer-focused nature to build strong stakeholder relationships
  • Experience with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions and relevant manuals
  • Competence in highway design for road safety, walking, and cycling schemes
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools, including Word and Excel
