Interim SENCo / Strategic Lead for SEN Opportunity

Panoramic Associates are supporting an Education Trust in the South West of England, who are looking to recruit an interim SEN specialist for a one-year contract. This a 3-day per week role, starting in September.

This role will be split between two days working as SENCo in a school with high levels of SEN, and one day working on the review and development of SEN strategy across the trust. This will involve mapping, developing and delivering CPD across the schools, sharing best practise and bringing the SEND network together, acting as on-hand support for other SENCos across the trust.



Key Responsibilities



As SENCo

  • Act as interim SENCo, overseeing provision for pupils on SEND support and EHCPs.
  • Lead on transition planning for high-needs pupils.
  • Support staff with SEND training, guidance, and capacity building.
  • Liaise with external agencies and parents to ensure appropriate support and placement decisions.
  • Maintain and improve SEND documentation and processes.


Across the Trust

  • Develop and implement a trust-wide SEND strategy, including systems, structures, and assessment frameworks.
  • Coordinate and map CPD across schools, identifying gaps and planning targeted training.
  • Build a SEND network across the trust to harmonise paperwork, share best practice, and standardise approaches.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to other SENCo colleagues.
  • Collaborate with the Principals and external consultants to drive improvement and consistency.


Person Specification



Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a SENCo or SEND Leader in a primary settings.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to lead across multiple schools.
  • Deep understanding of SEND legislation, EHCP processes, and inclusive practice.
  • Experience supporting staff development and leading CPD.
  • NASENCo qualification or equivalent.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to undergo one).

  • No class teaching required.
  • Line management responsibilities may be included.
  • Flexibility in working days (3 days/week).
  • Interviews will take place w/c 8th October.
