Would you like to spend your day-job helping the UK become net-zero?

These opportunities don't come around too often - I'm working with a start-up who are supporting the UK with its goal of becoming Net Zero by 2050!

The work you'll do will genuinely help save the planet!

They're currently a team of circa 20 (with around 50% of the business working in engineering) and are looking to add the first Lead Engineer to their existing team of amazing engineers in Bristol - the calibre of the team is exceptional!

After launching in early 2024, they've already built an impressive customer base & significant revenue generation. Their next step is to develop their suite of products further as they look to cover new areas within the renewable energy sector.

You'll remain hands-on, working on a range of exciting projects & working with highly complex engineering problems, whilst also providing leadership to the team.

From a leadership perspective, you'll help the team with their individual career development journeys, whilst providing valuable expertise to the high-level technical direction & decisions of the team.

You'll have strong skills across the JavaScript/TypeScript stack and the ability to both contribute to complex problems and lead the team with best practice.

This is an amazing opportunity for someone who may have already begun their leadership journey, or potentially someone who is super-keen to embark on that journey and feels that they have all the skills to be successful in that type of role.

What you'll need

  • Excellent full stack expertise in the TypeScript stack (Node.js & React)
  • Either experience of line managing a small team, or a natural aptitude to do so
  • A desire to work in a role with an even balance of hands-on coding & team leadership
  • Experience in a fast-paced start-up environment or ability to operate in such an environment
  • The ability to contribute towards high-level technical decisions & direction
  • A strong user-focus; building products that focus on how they will impact the most important people - the users!
  • A passion for environmentally-focussed products or developing clever solutions for society-wide issues
  • Highly collaborative and enthusiastic about working on a hybrid-working basis alongside amazing colleagues a couple of days a week in Bristol!
