We are working in partnership with a Local Authority to recruit an experienced Accommodation Officer to support the effective management of a diverse portfolio of council-owned and privately managed properties.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a property or lettings professional with strong tenancy management and customer service skills to make a meaningful impact within the community.

Key Responsibilities:
路Handle tenant and landlord enquiries via phone, email, and in person
路Conduct regular property inspections to ensure compliance with standards
路Manage the check-in and check-out process, including inventories and documentation
路Coordinate repairs and maintenance with internal teams and external contractors
路Maintain accurate records of all property and tenancy activity
路Collect and manage rent payments and handle arrears appropriately
路Respond to complaints, issue warnings, and escalate enforcement actions when required
路Work collaboratively as part of a multi-skilled team to deliver effective housing solutions
路Ensure compliance with all relevant housing legislation and council procedures

Essential Requirements:
路Previous experience in lettings or property management
路Strong knowledge of the residential lettings process and relevant legislation
路Excellent organisational and administrative skills
路Confident communicator with a customer-focused approach
路Strong understanding of professional boundaries and safeguarding practices
路Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for work purposes

Desirable:
路CIH qualification or equivalent in housing or property management
路Experience working with a Local Authority or in a social housing setting
路Knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended)
路Familiarity with Equalities legislation and support work practices

Location:
The role is predominantly based in West Devon, covering Tavistock and surrounding areas, with some travel required to South Hams.
