As a Commissioning Protection Engineer, you'll play a key role in commissioning, maintaining, and fault-finding on protection and control systems up to 132kV across the North West's electricity network. From critical substations to high-voltage projects, you'll be trusted to deliver technical excellence on some of the most important infrastructure in the region.

This isn't a desk-bound role. You'll be out in the field, leading the commissioning and maintenance of advanced protection and control systems, troubleshooting faults, and ensuring our network operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. Whether it's bringing major projects online, maintaining critical infrastructure, or solving complex technical challenges - your expertise will make a direct difference, every single day.

What you'll be doing:

  • Commissioning a wide range of protection relays, schemes, and control systems at 33kV and 132kV - including 6.6/11kV networks.
  • Leading fault investigations and maintenance of complex protection systems.
  • Managing protection maintenance programmes and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and industry standards.
  • Playing a key role in delivering high-value, multi-disciplinary technical projects.
  • Using your problem-solving skills and technical insight to make critical decisions in the field.

What we're looking for:

  • HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong commissioning experience with protection systems at 33kV/132kV.
  • Project delivery experience on high-value electrical schemes.
  • Knowledge of protection principles, schemes, and relays (experience with DNO or similar environments is a real plus)
  • SAP authorisation at 33kV/132kV (or the ambition to gain it)
  • A hands-on engineer with a sharp eye for quality and detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a safety-first mindset.
  • Full UK driving licence.
