TimePlan Education Manchester is looking for a confident and empathetic Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant for a secondary school in Oldham. The school has a strong, restorative behaviour ethos and requires someone who can build strong relationships with students who display challenging behaviour or require emotional support.

Role Overview:

This role involves supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom, helping them to regulate emotions, manage behaviour and re-engage positively with learning. You will work closely with the pastoral, safeguarding and SEND teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 1:1 and small-group mentoring for students with behaviour needs
  • Supporting reintegration following behaviour incidents
  • Helping students develop coping strategies and emotional regulation
  • Implementing behaviour strategies and restorative practices
  • Liaising with teachers, parents ande external agencies
  • Ensuring a consistent, calm and supportive presence

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in behaviour support, youth work, mentoring or SEMH settings
  • Strong resilience, patience and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Understanding of de-escalation strategies
  • Passion for helping young people overcome barriers
