Line Manager Manufacturing - Oldham

Park Cakes is a c£250 million business which supplies cake and desserts to service the own brands of major retailers, this is a role based at our Oldham site.

Our products include, high end celebration cake products, slab cakes and mainstream desserts, we mostly supply Marks & Spencer's although we also supply other major retailers.

We are a profitable business with a clear commercial strategy, a flair for NPD and have a strong relationship with our customers and suppliers through our energy, style and commitment to partner relationships and quality.

We are currently putting a new role into our structure to replace our first level supervision with a view to this being a progression role for more senior management.

The role would suit someone with some existing supervisory or management experience operating in a fast paced labour intensive environment.

Example Accountabilities

  • Drive and analyse financial targets including productivity, efficiency and waste to improve performance.
  • Plan forward daily to ensure materials and labour will be available.
  • Manage WIP life of all materials associated to your area of control, bases, buttercreams, soaks, etc.
  • Implement and lead CI team projects to achieve required improvements.
  • Carry out performance reviews with staff twice a year
  • Implement training plans for skills to ensure operatives are trained, and key skills are available to supplement absence/holidays/peak
  • Action return to work interviews and carry out Absence Level meetings at Levels 1 & 2
  • Lead disciplinary investigations and basic disciplinary hearings
  • Prior to running the line ensure operatives are briefed on targets /tasks and throughout the day advise of progress and any changes.
  • Feedback to NPD on trials and make suggestions to support successful trials
  • Control Health & Safety and Quality for your lines and deal with any accident reporting/investigations

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

  • Candidates should have experience of running a team in a fast paced environment
  • A good standard of written English and numeracy to interrogate data to problem solve
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills to lead a team
  • Organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Ability to learn root cause analysis and project manage teams to deliver improvements in performance
  • Highly flexible and able to adapt to change
  • Basic Competency in Microsoft i.e. email and excel

Hours:

  • Flexibility to work over a variety of shifts, for example 6-2, 7-3, 2-10
  • Ability to work overtime as required to support business production
  • You will be required, to demonstrate HACCP for internal and external auditors

Package circa £32,000 per annum + Contributory pension scheme + Retailer Discount Scheme
