We’re hiring for a Quality Inspector to join a leading engineering firm based in Oldham, Greater Manchester. This is a key role for someone with a strong background in fabrication and welding inspection, who can take ownership of shop floor sign-offs and play an active role in continuous improvement projects.

You’ll be joining a growing business with a clear focus on quality, performance, and long-term success.

What’s on offer?

  • £40,000 - £50,000 per year (depending on experience)
  • 7:00am - 4:30pm Monday to Thursday / 3:30pm finish on Friday
  • Salary bonus of between 5% - 10%

What will you be doing as a Quality Inspector?

  • Inspecting fabrication, welding, and painting work on the shop floor with sign-off and rejection authority
  • Performing root cause analysis and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting the preparation and development of SOPs for audits
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and ensuring final product quality meets specification
  • Preparing the company for internal and external audits
  • Maintaining accurate records and inspection traceability
  • Working closely with production teams to identify issues and uphold quality standards

What do you need?

  • Proven background in fabrication and welding inspections
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach
  • Confident using IT systems to support documentation and audit preparation

What’s nice to have?

  • Practical or inspection experience in steelwork and welding
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methods
  • Financial awareness (CapEx / OpEx understanding)
