Purpose of the Role

Provide statutory social work services to children, young people, and families with safeguarding concerns. Assess needs, manage risk, and intervene appropriately to protect children, promote welfare, and support positive family outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake statutory assessments of children in need, including Section 47 child protection investigations.

  • Develop, implement, and review child-centred care and protection plans.

  • Identify, manage, and escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately.

  • Participate in strategy meetings, child protection conferences, and multi-agency planning.

  • Manage a caseload of children and families, maintaining accurate records and reports.

  • Work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure integrated support.

  • Prepare reports and provide evidence for court proceedings as required.

  • Ensure practice aligns with legislation, local policies, and professional standards.

  • Liaise with health services, schools, police, voluntary agencies, and other stakeholders to promote coordinated support.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent recognised qualification).

  • Registration with Social Work England.

  • Experience in safeguarding and child protection social work.

  • Proven ability to manage complex, high-risk cases and make sound professional decisions.
