HGV Workshop Engineer - Various shift patterns available

We are looking for qualified and time served HGV Technicians who can demonstrate a thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics.

Our client have been providing first class solutions for many years. It’s the standards that are set in the workshop that go a long to ensuring customer satisfaction at the other end.

You can expect to be situated in a positive and vibrant working environment where your efforts will be rewarded. A skills shortage can be trained by way of upskilling. What cannot be trained however is the right attitude and the desire to give your clients a first class service.

You will be carrying out inspections to a varied and diverse fleet.

You could be working on main dealer heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, hook loaders, light commercials (vans), trailers and tippers-

The type of work you can expect to be carrying out includes (but is not limited to)

  • Routine (and preventative) maintenance
  • MOT preparation
  • Scheduled servicing to DVSA standards
  • 6 (or 8) weekly inspections
  • Correction of running defects
  • Chassis and fabrication work
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Improvement of vehicle standards
  • Electrical and wiring inspections and corrections

Ideally you will be fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ or equivalent.

Additional accreditations such as IRTEC or EV qualification would be desirable, as would a HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence.
