The Role:
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of forming and annealing processes, as well as broader activities related to decarbonisation, process improvement, and product innovation.

The role combines hands-on, site-based activities with theoretical and analytical work, supporting both day-to-day technical challenges and major capital projects such as float plant start-ups. It offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and sustainability teams across international operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and improve flat glass forming and annealing technologies.

  • Support manufacturing operations with troubleshooting and process optimisation.

  • Contribute to major technical and engineering projects, including plant start-ups and repairs.

  • Drive innovation through R&D initiatives focused on decarbonisation and sustainability.

  • Manage multiple priorities, providing timely and effective technical support when required.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with global teams to deliver business objectives.

Candidate Profile:

  • Degree-qualified in Science or Engineering, with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience.

  • Practical and theoretical understanding of glass forming and annealing preferred.

  • Strong project management, organisational, and IT skills.

  • Confident communicator and problem-solver, capable of working under pressure.

  • Agile and self-motivated, with the ability to adapt to changing business needs.

  • Willingness to travel both in the UK and overseas, sometimes at short notice.
