A global leader in advanced glass manufacturing is seeking a skilled Technologist to join its technical team, supporting the development and optimisation of glass forming and annealing technologies. The Role:
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of forming and annealing processes, as well as broader activities related to decarbonisation, process improvement, and product innovation.
The role combines hands-on, site-based activities with theoretical and analytical work, supporting both day-to-day technical challenges and major capital projects such as float plant start-ups. It offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and sustainability teams across international operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and improve flat glass forming and annealing technologies.
Support manufacturing operations with troubleshooting and process optimisation.
Contribute to major technical and engineering projects, including plant start-ups and repairs.
Drive innovation through R&D initiatives focused on decarbonisation and sustainability.
Manage multiple priorities, providing timely and effective technical support when required.
Collaborate cross-functionally with global teams to deliver business objectives.
Candidate Profile:
Degree-qualified in Science or Engineering, with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
Practical and theoretical understanding of glass forming and annealing preferred.
Strong project management, organisational, and IT skills.
Confident communicator and problem-solver, capable of working under pressure.
Agile and self-motivated, with the ability to adapt to changing business needs.
Willingness to travel both in the UK and overseas, sometimes at short notice.
