An innovative manufacturing organisation who supports the pharmaceutical and medical sectors as well as other industries are urgently seeking an experienced Buyer to join their fast-growing procurement team in Orpington.
- Role: Buyer
- Duration: Initial 6-month contract
- Pay: 20-25 p/hr (Inside IR35)
- Location: Orpington
- Working Pattern: Fully onsite
As a Buyer you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless supply of high-quality materials and services, acting as a key business partner across multiple teams including operations, engineering, and planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and develop relationships with new suppliers who can contribute innovative ideas to support both current and future product designs.
- Negotiate cost-effective contracts while mitigating price increases and managing risk in the supply chain.
- Monitor supplier performance against KPI's and provide reports to the Lead Purchaser.
- Collaborate with planning and engineering teams to support on-time delivery and new product development targets.
- Implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce lead times, and optimise costs.
- Maintain and manage supply agreements and ensure compliance with company standards.
This role is ideal for a proactive Buyer who thrives on building strong supplier relationships, driving cost efficiencies, and supporting cross-functional teams to achieve business goals.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supplier management (preferably within a manufacturing environment)
- Strong negotiation skills with commercial and financial awareness.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
- Knowledge of supplier auditing and supplier risk management.
- Strong IT skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
