Are you a qualified Accountant with proven experience using Sage 200?
Can you hit the ground running and are you comfortable working with manual as well as electronic systems?
If so, this exceptionally rare opportunity working with one of our most prestigious Clients could be the ideal temporary opportunity for you!
Starting as soon as possible, the role will be ongoing until the end of December 2025. You will be working a 35-hour week – Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
Please note, this is a temporary position paid on a weekly PAYE basis. This role will start immediately, so sadly candidates with a lengthy notice period cannot be considered.
Temporary Accountant Responsibilities
- Assist with quarterly VAT returns and the annual Partial Exemption adjustment
- Prepare and post endowment gains/losses and related movement journals
- Post nominal ledger journals, including depreciation and ad-hoc adjustments
- Review creditors, debtors, and balance sheet items, making necessary adjustments
- Support month-end routines including variance analysis and budget commentary
- Post pension scheme and subsidiary journals
- Assist with statutory year-end accounts and respond to audit queries
- Produce monthly and quarterly financial reports for internal stakeholders
- Help prepare cashflow forecasts
- Contribute to the review and testing of financial procedures and documentation
- Handle other delegated finance tasks as required

Temporary Accountant Requirements
- Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting standards (SORP experience desirable)
- Confident working independently with journals, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Proficient in Excel and accounting systems (SAP and Sage 200 experience advantageous)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience in academic or charitable sectors is a plus but not essential
Location
Our client is located in central Oxford (OX1). There is no on-site parking due to the location, but excellent public transport links and Park & Ride options are available.
