We are seeking an Interim Charity Accountant to manage and oversee all financial and accounting activities within a respected educational institution.

This position is office based in Central Oxford.

Our client is a prestigious institution within the Not For Profit sector and one of the leading educational establishments based in Oxford. Known for its rich history and commitment to excellence, this large organisation holds a significant impact on education and research globally.

Description

Based full time in central Oxford the Temporary Accountant will be responsible for:

    • Assist with Quarterly VAT Returns and the annual Partial Exemption adjustment
    • Prepare and post endowment gains/losses and movement journals on a monthly and quarterly basis
    • Prepare and post nominal ledger journals, including depreciation and ad-hoc adjustments
    • Review creditors, debtors, and balance sheet items, making adjustments as necessary
    • Support month-end routines, including analysis of variances and commentary against budget
    • Post pension scheme and subsidiary journals
    • Assist with statutory year-end accounts and respond to audit queries
    • Produce monthly and quarterly financial reports for budget holders and senior managers
    • Help prepare cashflow forecasts
  • Initially this position is 5 days per week in the office. After a few months this may be relaxed to a more hybrid model. Offices are situated in central Oxford, no parking is available but they are easily accessible from the train station of Oxford Park-and-Ride.

Profile

A successful Interim Charity Accountant should have:

    • Qualified Accountant
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Confident working with journals, reconciliations, and financial reporting independently
    • Comfortable working to deadlines and managing multiple priorities
    • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software
    • A good understanding of SORP
