Pyro Packing Operative

Salary: £27,500
A well-established engineering manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Packing Operative to join its Pyro Manufacturing Department. In this role, you’ll contribute directly to the production of specialist components used in life-saving safety systems—making accuracy, care and reliability essential.
Role Overview
As a Packing Operative, you will be responsible for the safe and precise packing and palletising of cartridge sets and rocket motors, ensuring all items are fully prepared for dispatch. You’ll manage stock through SAP, maintain accurate documentation, and work to stringent regulatory and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Pack, palletise and label products for dispatch, ensuring all documentation is correct.
- Update SAP to record packing progress and dispatch status.
- Receive incoming goods, reconciling materials against production cards or delivery notes.
- Ensure all items are batch-marked correctly and stored safely.
- Maintain accurate SAP records for stock locations and movements.
- Handle materials in line with safety procedures and ER14 requirements.
- Operate and maintain packing equipment to ensure it remains safe and fit for use.
- Skills & Experience
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical, organised approach.
- Ability to check own work and follow defined standards.
- Proactive problem-solver with a positive attitude.
- Experience in packing within a manufacturing or stores environment.
- Basic understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- SAP experience and Dangerous Goods certification (Air, Sea & Road) are beneficial but not essential.
