About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and versatile Contracts Manager to oversee works across MOD sites in the Oxfordshire region. This role is ideal for a practical all-rounder with a strong background in multiple trades and the ability to manage diverse projects from start to finish. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating works, managing subcontractors, ensuring compliance with MOD standards, and delivering projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee day-to-day operations across a variety of contracts on MOD sites.

  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and direct labour, ensuring work is completed safely, to specification, and to high quality standards.

  • Plan, schedule, and monitor works to ensure timely delivery.

  • Liaise with clients, site managers, and stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships.

  • Ensure compliance with MOD security requirements, health & safety, and company policies.

  • Provide technical input across a range of trades (carpentry, roofing, groundworks, plumbing, general building, etc.).

  • Manage budgets, procurement, and cost control for assigned projects.

  • Prepare reports, monitor progress, and resolve any site or contractual issues.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or Site Manager within construction, facilities, or maintenance.

  • Hands-on background in multiple trades, with a strong understanding of general building practices.

  • Experience working on secure sites (MOD or similar) is highly desirable.

  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, operatives, and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Sound knowledge of health & safety regulations and site compliance.

  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel between sites.

  • Security clearance (or ability to obtain) required.
