We have a fantastic opportunity for to join Thames Water as an Electrical Technician to be based at our wastewater treatment site on the outskirts of Oxford.You will be working in a newly created frontline support team of technicians responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations and improvements of wastewater treatment processes for the project upgrade within the Thames Valley North Area of Waste & Bioresources Operations.If this is you, we are looking for someone to join our Operations Team in Wastewater that offers a brilliant opportunity for you to establish a career with Thames Water in frontline operations.As the Electrical Technician, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our wastewater production sites is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical equipment.You will also investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.You will provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.If this is you, we are looking for someone to join our Operations Team in Wastewater that offers a brilliant opportunity for you to establish a career with Thames Water in frontline operations.What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician
  • Investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
  • Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, gearboxes, various conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
Base Location: Oxford STW - OX4 4YUWorking Pattern 38 Hours Monday-Friday on a shift pattern 5 over 7 daysAll PPE and tools are provided. What you should bring to the role
  • NVQ or C&G level 3 in Electrical Engineering is essential.
  • 18th Edition qualification is desirable, but training can be provided.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety policies are required.
  • Significant experience in electrical systems, ideally working in an industrial environment, or the water industry preferably.
  • A valid driving license is required as frequent travel is required within the Northeast Water Production Area.
