Role Overview:
Turner Lovell is recruiting for a UK-based infrastructure and utility services provider with expertise in power infrastructure, delivering high-voltage renewable energy and civil engineering projects across the UK.

We are looking for a hands-on Site Supervisor with proven experience in civil and enabling works, through to the coordination of M&E installation packages on high-voltage renewable energy projects.

This position is for SSE Framework Projects requiring SSE Cat 3 Authorisation, overseeing HV substation and cabling works while maintaining strict safety, quality, and operational standards. You will work on major renewable energy infrastructure projects with long-term stability and a top-tier international team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise site personnel, subcontractors, and civil works for HV substations and renewable energy projects.

  • Enforce SSE operational safety procedures, CDM regulations, and National Grid Transmission requirements.

  • Conduct weekly safety inspections, toolbox talks, and point-of-work risk assessments to maintain a proactive safety culture.

  • Prepare, implement, and enforce Method Statements and Risk Assessments aligned with SSE Cat 3 standards.

  • Monitor project scope, schedule, budget, and quality to ensure safe, on-time delivery.

  • Mentor and lead site teams, engineers, and safety personnel, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.

  • Oversee administrative duties, including compliance reporting, site records, and documentation for SSE Framework audits.

  • Manage civil works, including enabling works, access roads & section 278 works, sustainable drainage, reinforced concrete, SGT bunding, foundations, and HV cabling infrastructure.

Essential Requirements:

  • SSE Cat 3 Authorisation required; proven experience on SSE or DNO high-voltage substation projects.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience on complex infrastructure projects (15m+), including renewable energy, utilities, or petrochemical sectors.

  • BSc, BEng, HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

  • Full-time on-site commitment with flexibility to meet project demands.

  • Strong knowledge of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards in high-voltage environments.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills; capable of managing multidisciplinary teams and engaging with clients on live sites.
